2024 US Election: Thoughts
what comes to mind when watching the results of the 2024 US election is this.
a: this is how the rise of fascism always goes. see my piece: rise and fall of fascism in the neo-empire
and b: kamala tried to win by appealing to people’s “better nature” and false sense of togetherness. she tried to win by claiming to believe in the ultimate goodness of the american spirit, which falls flat given the fact that her administration actively facilitated a genocide and violently suppressed protestors. however she represented what commentator jupiter baal aptly named western “soft power”. western power that is as executively fascist but nominally presents a face of progress and “civilisation”, non-violence in other words: allies and pawns and secret organisations do their dirty work, but they profess to be on the side ordinary citizens of the metropoles.
when given the choice between a false sense of moral purity and desperation and radical action, it’s not surprise that americans chose trump. when i think about it, it doesn’t feel like she tried very hard. okay the tik tok page was funny, but the republicans have a 1000-page plan for how they’re going to radically change the country. ? they want it more than u, it seems.
trump on the other hand appealed to the very real violent, evil, racist, misogynistic, insane and cannibalistic nature that is at the true heart of the American state. i suppose they’re right to say their energy endures: a country founded on the evils of genocide and chattel slavery could meet no other end. kamala’s vision was amorphous, intangible, and ultimately inconsequential to the majority of republican voters, and unconvincing and abhorrent to people on the left side of the political spectrum. her being articulate, competent and well spoken has nothing to do with anything; these are concepts of falsified significance. america’s spirit is and always has been cannibalistic, genocidal, and spiritually grotesque and sado-masochistic. the only difference now will be that, in this season, more people than just the third world countries they have consistently terrorised and stolen from, will feel it.
unfortunately we should not be surprised that a criminal rapist, racist, narcissistic monster is what americans prefer over someone “qualified”. was this not the nature of all the founding fathers and their dream? what else could come of the dream built on the corpses of those you’ve massacred, tortured and raped? it’s a dream for the straight, white cis-gendered men, the spiritually savage and insane, and a nightmare for the rest.
i’m scared and sad. however bad i think things are going to be, i think it’ll be worse. but i imagine in the “peripheries” things won’t be much different than they’ve always been in this euro-american empire. what a fucking time to be alive.
i’d also like to note the election of kemi badenoch as leader of the conservative party. i’m not going to fucking entertain any conversations about representation. i will say that’s it’s no surprise to me that a party that is on its way out has elected a string of minority leaders - no white man will be held accountable if the party crumbles under an outsider. and reform is well placed to take over as the main opposition. then it’s game over.
only when the conservatives have nothing to offer do they hand over the scraps of their party to the radically conservative, fascist outsiders desperate and scrambling to be included in supremacist legacies and systems of power built to destroy them. it’s pathetic, but again, perhaps an inevitability.
but still, i believe this is the western empire in its death rows. it will be dark for the metropole citizens, but perhaps no darker than it’s been in any of the empire’s unfortunate victims, which of course is of no comfort…but i think after these last ditch attempts to maintain supremacy a shift of power is forthcoming…unfortunately it would not be surprising if the successors merely fill the vacuum in the supremacist model, rather than revolutionise and abolish the system to replace it with something more humane.
sigh.
